Make a Custom Totem of Undying from Your Minecraft Skin

Upload a complete Minecraft skin PNG, choose one of six Totem styles, select Java or Bedrock, and build the pack. The generator maps the real head, torso, arms, legs, and supported outer layers from the skin sheet, then packages the result in your browser.

  • Input64×64, 64×32, or 128×128 skin PNG
  • OutputJava ZIP, Bedrock MCPACK, and Totem PNG
  • ProcessingUploaded skins stay in your browser

How to Use the Minecraft Custom Totem Maker

  1. Add a Minecraft skinUpload a complete skin PNG, or look up a public Java or cached Bedrock player skin by name.
  2. Choose a Totem styleCompare Classic, Square, Mini Me, Head, Bust, and 3D Model in the live preview.
  3. Check skin optionsConfirm classic or slim arms, choose whether to include outer layers, and enable Tiny mode only when you want a smaller in-game item.
  4. Choose the editionSelect Java for a ZIP resource pack or Bedrock for an MCPACK, then give the pack a clear name.
  5. Build and downloadBuild the pack, wait for validation, and download the selected style, its PNG, or the all-six-styles bundle.
  6. Install and activateEnable the pack in Minecraft using the edition-specific steps shown after generation and in the guide below.

The preview updates before download, so you can compare styles, toggle outer layers, check slim or classic arms, and inspect the Item, In hand, and Activation views. The In hand view uses the loaded skin arm. The Activation view is a browser approximation, not a Minecraft engine recording.

Which Custom Totem Style Should You Choose?

StyleWhat it showsUseful when
ClassicA compact full character in the familiar Totem pose. You want a recognizable all-purpose Totem.
SquareA wider, chunkier full-body character.Your skin has bold torso or sleeve details.
Mini MeA large head with a small body and visible hands. The face is the most important part of the skin.
HeadThe face and optional hat layer fill the item texture. You want the clearest face at 16×16.
BustThe head, shoulders, arms, and upper torso. You want clothing detail without tiny legs.
3D ModelA full player-shaped model with edition-specific files. You want depth in hand instead of a flat sprite.

Tiny mode reduces the in-game footprint while keeping the style centered. The all-styles download creates six ready Java packs or one Bedrock pack with six selectable subpacks.

Supported Skins and Pack Compatibility

Use the original Minecraft skin sheet, not a screenshot, profile render, photo, or logo. Supported files are PNG skins in 64×64, legacy 64×32, or HD 128×128 format, up to 2 MB. Modern skins can use classic four-pixel arms or slim three-pixel arms.

This release validates Java packs for Minecraft Java Edition 1.21.11 with resource-pack format 75. Bedrock output uses an MCPACK resource-pack structure. Minecraft updates can change pack formats or model behavior, so use the version GamerCubic lists as supported.

How to Install Your Custom Totem Pack

Java Edition

  1. Download the Java ZIP and leave it compressed.
  2. Open Options → Resource Packs → Open Pack Folder.
  3. Move the ZIP into that folder, return to Minecraft, and enable it.
  4. Keep it above any other pack that changes the Totem of Undying.

Bedrock Edition

  1. Download the Bedrock MCPACK file.
  2. Open it with Minecraft and wait for the import confirmation.
  3. Open the world settings and choose Resource Packs → My Packs.
  4. Activate the pack. For all styles, choose a variant in its subpack settings.

Hold a Totem of Undying to check the result. The pack changes the visual resource only; it does not change revival behavior, effects, drop rates, or item attributes.

Troubleshooting a Custom Totem Pack

The skin is rejected

Use the original PNG skin sheet and check for 64×64, 64×32, or 128×128 dimensions. A character screenshot is not a skin sheet.

The old Totem still appears

Confirm the pack is active and place it above any other pack that changes the Totem texture or model.

Java shows an incompatible warning

This build targets Java 1.21.11. Other releases can require a different resource-pack format.

Bedrock does not import it

Check that the filename ends in .mcpack, then open that file with Minecraft.

Outer clothing is missing

Enable Outer layers before building. Legacy skins do not contain modern jacket, sleeve, and pants overlay regions.

Username lookup fails

Upload the PNG instead. Java lookup depends on Mojang; Bedrock also depends on GeyserMC’s converted-skin cache.

Privacy and How the Generator Works

Uploaded skin files are decoded, mapped, previewed, and packaged locally in your browser. The tool does not require an account and does not upload the selected file or its filename to GamerCubic. If you use username lookup, only the player name is sent to the relevant public skin service.

The final 16×16 grid is built from explicit Minecraft skin UV regions. The preview, PNG download, and flat pack texture use that same result. The 3D style also includes the source skin and model geometry required by the selected edition.

Minecraft Custom Totem Maker FAQs

How do I make a custom Totem of Undying from my skin?

Upload a complete Minecraft skin PNG, choose a style and edition, then build the pack. After validation, download and enable it as a normal Minecraft resource pack.

Can I upload a normal picture or character screenshot?

No. This version accepts complete Minecraft skin PNG sheets only. Photos, logos and rendered character images do not contain the UV regions needed to map the correct head, body, arm and leg textures.

Which Minecraft skin sizes work?

The validator accepts modern 64×64 skins, legacy 64×32 skins and 128×128 HD skins. Files with unrelated dimensions are rejected before a Totem or pack can be generated.

Are slim Alex-style arms supported?

Yes. The tool detects the standard slim-arm layout and lets you switch between slim and classic arms. Legacy skins use classic arms.

What does the outer-layer option include?

For modern skins it composites the hat, jacket, sleeves and pants over their base faces. Legacy 64×32 skins support the head or hat overlay but not the newer body overlay regions.

Does a custom Totem change how the Totem of Undying works?

No. This is a visual resource pack. It replaces the item texture without changing revival behavior, effects or attributes.

Does the Custom Totem Maker work with Java Edition?

Yes. This release generates and validates a resource-pack structure for Minecraft Java Edition 1.21.11 using resource pack format 75. Other Java versions can require a different pack format.

Does it work with Bedrock Edition?

Yes. Choose Bedrock to build a .mcpack with the canonical textures/items/totem.png override. The all-styles Bedrock download includes six selectable subpacks.

Why is the Totem still pixelated?

Minecraft uses a 16×16 Totem of Undying texture. The generator preserves the important skin faces and displays the final pixels sharply, but details smaller than that grid cannot all remain visible.

Is my Minecraft skin uploaded or stored?

No. Validation, UV extraction, preview rendering and pack creation run in your browser. The tool does not send the skin or filename to GamerCubic.
